It’s officially summer — the time for long weekends, beach trips, backyard BBQs, and late nights that can throw your routine for a loop.

And hey, we’re all about enjoying life. You should savor that snowball, grilled burger, or extra night out with friends. But we also know how easy it is for summer to turn into three months of totally abandoning your fitness goals… only to wonder what happened by September.

So how do you find that sweet spot of enjoying summer and staying consistent? Here are some tips to keep you on track without missing out on all the fun.

1. Keep a minimum commitment

Summer is busy. Between vacations, kids’ schedules, and spontaneous plans, you might not make it to the gym five days a week — and that’s okay.

Instead, pick a realistic minimum:
👉 “No matter what, I’ll get to the gym at least 3 days a week.”
👉 “I’ll walk 8k steps every day, even on vacation.”

This gives you flexibility and keeps you accountable.

2. Stay active on vacation

Your fitness doesn’t have to stop just because you’re out of town.

🏖 Walk the beach.
🌲 Hike a new trail.
🏊‍♂️ Swim with your kids.
💪 Or drop into a local CrossFit gym — it’s one of the coolest parts of being in this community.

Movement is movement. It all counts.

3. Don’t try to “earn” your food

This is a big one. Enjoy that plate of BBQ and peach cobbler without guilt — you don’t need to punish yourself with an extra workout.

Instead, think about how staying active makes you feel good, keeps your energy up for long summer days, and supports your goals overall.

4. Plan ahead for busy weekends

If you’ve got a packed Saturday, maybe hit a class on Friday and plan a quick at-home session Sunday morning.

Consistency is about showing up again and again, not being perfect every single day.

5. Keep your nutrition simple

Vacations and parties are part of life. When you’re home, lock in the basics:

🥗 Protein with every meal
🥑 Lots of veggies & fiber
💧 Plenty of water
🛌 Sleep to recover

This way, the occasional snowball or cocktail won’t throw you off track.

Remember: It’s a lifestyle, not a 30-day program

You’re building habits for life. That means enjoying your summer while still honoring your goals.

If you slip up, don’t beat yourself up — just get back to the gym, plan your next meal, and keep moving forward.
